THE SITE RULES
DON'T FORGET TO READ THEM!
Hi there! Thanks for checking out Our Voices Sound. We have a few rules here for you to follow so please be mindful of them or we'll have to send dementors after you! Not really but yea...just keep them in mind. :]
GENERAL RULES
- No drama. Please try to resolve issues among yourselves before coming to staff. If you can't and you must come to staff for direction on issues, be advised that we are going to be the fairest we can.
- Respect the staff.
- Do not impersonate other members or spam the site in any way. If you need to advertise, do it in the advertising section.
- No stealing. Period. If you're caught stealing graphics, posts, applications, etc. we will ban you. No exceptions. It's just not right, okay?
- Please put your display in ALL CAPS.
- Keep a generally well-proportioned ratio of boys to girls, please. Unless you're one of those people who can only play one or the other, it'd be great for everyone if you could keep it pretty even.
- Graphics! Everyone loves graphics, right? Well, okay, maybe it's just me. Anyway, your icon should be 120z120px. Signatures should be no wider than 500px and no taller than 350px, please. Hover images should be 200x300px.
ROLEPLAYING.
- The word count is 300 words. This is a flexible, but just remember mainly to match your partner's post count approximately. It's not okay to reply to a 800 word post with only 200 words.
- Classes: Okay, here's how classes are going to work. As far as in character goes, everyone is signed up for the classes they should be signed up for. As far as out of character goes, if you sign your character up for a class, you must have that character 'attend' (or post in a class thread) that class. If you sign your character up for a class and don't post in that class at least once for the term, then your character cannot 'pass' the class, resulting in a holding back for the next year.
- No godmodding or powerplaying.
- Mild profanity is okay, but don't go overboard. We are a PG-13 site in accordance with ProBoards TOS.
APPLICATIONS.
- Students years 1-7 will be accepted.
- Please fill out the proper application for your character, and post it with the subject LAST NAME, first name.
- While we accept canon and original characters, be sure to not take a canon celebrity from the movies. It's just not cool, k?
- The staff reserve the right to deny any canon application where the player does not seem to grasp the character well enough to play him/her. Please be advised of this when you're applying. If you're copying straight from HP wiki or another source, you won't be accepted (especially because that's stealing!)
- You may post in the games area until you are accepted, but please do not RP until we've accepted your application.
CHARACTERS.
- You may have any number of characters you wish, but you must be active with your current ones. If you haven't posted with at least half of your characters within the past month, a new character will not be permitted unless you discard a character.
- No Mary Sue's and Gary Stu's. This means if your character seems too perfect or too flawed, he/she probably is.
- We do accept Beauxbatons, Hogwarts, and Durmstrang students; if you are a foreign student, you will be staying at Hogwarts for this term, and then next term we will make boards for the other two schools so you don't have to delete your characters.
- Be realistic when roleplaying. Your character is going to take some hits in a duel, take time to catch a Snitch, and not know every single answer on every single exam. Just because we're in a magical world doesn't mean we're all perfect. Also, be aware of what spells are taught at which levels; a first year can not do spells that a seventh year would be taught.
- Be careful with how many abilities your characters have. If it's canon, fine, but if you're making all original characters, they can't all have abilities. Sorry. Also, no Parseltongues, except Harry Potter and Voldemort.
- If you're a Professor, you are required to post one lesson per term. If you do not, you will be removed as a professor (and your character removed if you are a canon professor.)
ACTIVITY.
- We will have activity checks every three months.
- Canon characters must post in-character every four weeks. If you do not make a post within that time (without an absent notice), we will unclaim your canon character. You may reclaim that canon once before it is taken permanently.
- If you have an absent notice up and are gone for three months after the day you say you will be returning, we will unclaim any canons you have. At six months past, if you still have not showed, we will delete your original characters, as well. This is to make sure we don't have a cluttered board with members who are not returning.
Thank you for taking the time to read the rules! Have fun!
