HISTORY:
Hermione was born to two Muggle dentists on September 19, 1979 in London, England. Her parents wanted an usual name for their daughter, a name that others would find difficult to pronounce, because they wanted to prove their own cleverness. She lived a relatively normal childhood, though her parents intentionally kept her brain stimulated to increase her educational advancements. Instead of having simple toys and stuffed animals, Hermione was read books and given toys that were meant to help with her developmental growth and mental strength. Whether or not the over-stimulation of her young brain or genetic smarts was the cause for her current intelligence rate or not, Hermione had grown into a very smart young lady.
At age eleven, Hermione and her parents were visited by a representative of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When Hermione learned the news that she was a witch, she was very pleased and her parents were supportive of her - taken aback, of course, but supportive. From there, Hermione gathered her books in Diagon Alley like the rest of the kids her age. Unlike most of the other kids, though, Hermione immediately immersed herself in the works of wizards before her, attempting to learn as much about the wizarding world as she could before she got there. She knew that she would be at a slight disadvantage at magic at first because she was coming from a family who was never around it, but figured she would catch up, and even get ahead, by becoming familiar with everything she could before heading to Hogwarts.
Her determination and bravery led her to being sorted into Gryffindor, along with her now-best friends Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. At first, though, the trio were not friends at all. She met the two on the Hogwarts Express and their initial impression of her was that she was a know-it-all and unfriendly. Her eagerness to please professors only solidified their first impression of her, and the trio definitely did not get on right away. However, when a troll was released into the castle and the boys came looking for her and found the troll about to crush her, the boys stepped in and helped Hermione take it on. Professors were horrified at the scene, but Hermione took the fall for them all. From then on, Harry and Ron saw her in a different light, and it was then that they really became friends.
Hermione didn't make friends very well because of her eagerness to please her professors and the fact that she tried to aid others in their classes, but did so in a bossy way. Because of this, she tended to stick to Harry and Ron after their incident with the troll, even if they weren't the most appreciative of her overbearing comments. During the first Quidditch match of the year, she set fire to Snape's robes for thinking he was jinxing Harry's broom. She also accompanied Harry and Ron in search of the Philosopher's Stone to steal it before Voldemort could get the chance, proving her intelligence was more as she aided them in getting past a few difficult challenges along the way.
In the summer before her second year, Hermione and her family accompanied Harry, Ron, and the Weasley family to Diagon Alley to shop for school supplies. It was on the trip that they ran into Draco Malfoy and Hermione experienced her first introduction to the prejudice surrounding her blood status as a Muggle-born. She didn't know what Mudblood meant at the time, but from the reaction of those around her, she realized it was not a nice word at all.
Hermione had an obvious crush during her second year on the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, Gilderoy Lockhart. She doodled hearts around his name and was the only person to score perfect marks on his first quiz of the term, which conveniently was all about himself. On Halloween of that year, she, Ron, and Harry attended Nearly Headless Nick's Death-day Party. On the way back from the party, Harry revealed he was hearing voices and it was then that they found Filch's cat petrified. After witnessing the vandalism on the walls about the Chamber of Secrets being reopened, Hermione began a frantic research. She even interrupted Cuthbert Binns during a lesson to ask about it. Fortunately for her, he revealed all and told of a monster that lived within the Chamber that Salazar supposedly built himself, though no such chamber was found.
When Harry suggested that Draco was the heir of Slytherin, Hermione proposed the trio use Polyjuice Potion to get a confession out of Malfoy. Unfortunately, after the brew was complete, she was unable to tag along with them to confront Malfoy because the hair she obtained from Millicent Bulstrode turned out to be a cat hair; she consequently spent weeks in the Hospital Wing recovering from her transformation. Months after her recovery, she was the unfortunate victim to another accident. She learned that a Basilisk was the true form of the monster in the Chamber. Once she learned this, she told Penelope Clearwater, the first person she came across after learning of it, and they both became petrified for using mirrors to navigate through the castle. Hermione wasn't treated until nearly the end of the year, and was disappointed to learn that Dumbledore cancelled all of the end-of-year exams as a special treat. She was, however, immensely proud of Harry and Ron for figuring it all out and taking out the Basilisk.
The summer before her third year, she went on holiday to France with her parents. When she returned just before third year, she went to Diagon Alley with Harry and the Weasley family and bought herself a ginger part-Kneazle cat named Crookshanks. The cat caused a rift between her and Ron because it tried to get at Ron's rat, Scabbers. That didn't make Hermione love her cat any less, though. When she went off to Hogwarts, she continued to be a proud and intelligent young lady, proving that much to herself by obtaining a Time-Turner from the Ministry to be able to take all of the classes she wanted to that year. She didn't like keeping the secret from Harry and Ron, but in order to take her classes she desired, it was necessary.
When Harry received a Firebolt for Christmas with no note, Hermione immediately went to McGonagall for fear it was from Sirius Black, the Azkaban runaway. The broom was taken from Harry and it made him angry with Hermione, who was simply trying to act in the best interest of Harry. Another social rift came when Scabbers went missing and Ron blamed Hermione's cat, Crookshanks; this time in the year wasn't the best for Hermione and she felt a bit lonely, feeling like her friends felt like they couldn't trust her. Hermione leaned on Hagrid, which is how she learned of Buckbeak's fate from injuring Draco Malfoy after he offended the Hippogriff. Hagrid brought the trio back together, placing guilt on Harry and Ron for putting such petty things over their friendship and eventually the two apologized to Hermione.
Hermione was one of the students who thought Remus Lupin was one of the best professors they ever had, but she also deduced that he was a werewolf from his Boggart form and his absences timed around the full moon.
On the day of Buckbeak's execution, Hermione, Harry, and Ron went down to Hagrid's cabin to console him before the inevitable was to happen. It was there that Hermione discovered Ron's rat, who bit Ron and fled. They chased after the rat but were attacked by a black dog, which ended up being the Animagus form of Sirius Black. He pulled Ron into the tunnel under the Whomping Willow and Harry and Hermione followed, finding themselves in the Shrieking Shack. It was there that Lupin joined them, confirming Hermione's suspicions that he was a werewolf. They also discovered that Sirius had been framed for the death of Lily and James Potter and the real culprit was Peter Pettigrew, who had disguised himself as Ron's rat, Scabbers. Professor Snape joined them and was about to take Black with him when Hermione used the Expelliarmus spell on him, knocking him out - to her horror.
They decided that Pettigrew should be handed over to authorities and as they prepared to turn him over, chaos ensued. Lupin turned into a werewolf, Pettigrew escaped, and Sirius had to transform into his dog form to protect Hermione, Harry, and Ron. Sirius was injured and as Hermione and Harry ran to his aid, Dementors descended upon them. Hermione passed out, leaving Harry to fend off the Dementors for himself; thankfully, a figure appeared and cast the Patronus charm, strong enough to repel the Dementors.
Per Dumbledore's instructions, Hermione and Harry used the Time-Turner to travel back in time. At a great personal risk, Hermione saved Buckbeak and Sirius from their untimely deaths, allowing them to escape together. At the end of it all, she turned in her Time-Turner, claiming it caused too much trouble and she would drop subjects instead of taking so many classes.
It is now the start of fourth year and Hermione is happy to just be alive, with her friends, and intends to make the best of the rest of her life, hoping to make a difference in the world around her.

Hermione laid in her bed, staring up at the ceiling and listening to the cars passing by in the distance, a random car horn blaring at some idiot who probably cut him off. Her parents were sleeping in their bedroom and Crookshanks lay curled up on the top of her trunk which sat at the end of her bed, prepared for her journey to the Burrow the next morning. Hermione couldn't sleep knowing that in a few hours she would be with Ginny and the rest of the Weasley's again. She loved her parents, truly, but there was no denying that she felt a part of the Weasley family was her own family, as well. They aided her and guided her through the wizarding world and they allowed her to stay with them for weeks on end before the start of school. If anything, they were her family, too.
Why Hermione couldn't sleep, she didn't know. Maybe it was the excitement of the previous year that was getting to her or the fact that she would be attending the Quidditch World Cup, an event that didn't happen all that often but was something amazing. She knew that all of the fans in their garb, the teams playing fiercely, and being among her friends would be something to never forget. Though she, Harry and Ron had been through trying times together, it brought them closer, and there weren't ever two people she could care about more aside from her parents. Of course she loved Ginny Weasley, too, but she, Ron, and Harry had formed a bond that could never be severed; she'd had petty arguments with Ginny before that made her question their friendship. She'd never doubted her friendship with Ron and Harry though - at least, after it was confirmed that's what they were...friends.
She turned onto her side and looked out the window, wondering if maybe there was another reason she was so excited to head to the Burrow?
No, couldn't be.
Smiling to herself, she closed her eyes and her breathing eased, and, finally, she fell asleep.
