He rubbed his arms at the coldness surrounding him. Damien had never been one who particularly enjoyed the cold, having been born in the middle of winter, and the thought of anything below 70 degrees made him involuntary shiver. He had traveled across the world many times over, had seen many places that he would have loved to stay, yet he couldn’t. He knew most people would kill have his life. To inherit millions of riches, but Damien doesn’t. Sure he loves not having to worry about money, or at least he did before he lost it all…but he loves his freedom, the control he has over his own life, and destiny, and honestly he wouldn’t change anything that led to his current situation of being homelss. He sometimes thinks there was something wrong with him for wanting to give up, the power, the riches, and the girls. But I digress, he was really cold.
He was leaning against one of the poles out on the quidditch pitch, a bottle of firewhiskey open beside him. . It was really late at night, with there being only a couple more hours before sunrise. He had always liked nighttime best. There was just a stillness at night that the daytime didn’t have, and he loved that. He also enjoyed the animals that came out at night. He liked the chirping sounds of the crickets, and the splashing of the frogs as they hopped from one end of the pond the next. He loved hearing the owls talk to one another, and watching the animals he didn’t get to see during the day interact with each other. Damien leaned back on the pole and looking out into the darkness, took a swig of his drink, and let his mind wonder.
When he was younger after his father, and siblings, went to bed, he would sneak out of his house, and go sit by the pond at the edge of his house. He came back time and time just to be alone. It had been a rarity in his house. He did after all live in a house with four other people, running in an out, not to mention all of his father’s business associates coming in and out. He pulled a cigarette out of his back pocket, and began to smoke it. He didn’t smoke often, only when he was super stressed, or when he was cold, and yeah he was pretty fucking cold. He could always go inside, but he didn’t want to. Not yet at least. So he sat there, on leaning against the middle quidditch pole, and stared out into the darkness. Something was going to happen, he wasn’t sure what just yet, but he couldn’t go yet.

Damien shifted a little on the quidditch pole, trying to find a comfortable spot. He had been up since five that morning, like he was every morning for his run around the campus. He closed his eyes for a bit, not falling asleep, but simply relaxing. He allowed his mind to drift back to the previous night. It had been a wild night if he remembered correctly, lots of drinking going on. Damien wasn’t the type of person who would normally go drunk at a party… okay maybe he was but normally he at least maintain some type of control. What had happened? He looked over at the bottle of firewhiskey by his side and a chuckle left him as he remembered the first time he had had some. A few years ago, he had been 15 maybe, and he and this girl, what her name was he couldn’t remember, not that it mattered anymore, had stolen a bottle from his father and snuck down to the pond down by his house. God how it had burned… the drink… when it went down, however it had certainly made the night interesting.
He was in the process of pushing off the pole to head back towards the school when he heard a voice not too far from where he was. He nearly jumped out of his skin at the sound of her voice. “Jesus,” he said his as hand grasped his chest, and he tried to even out his breathing again, “You scared the crap out of me.” He had always enjoyed scaring people and getting scared in return, but unfortunately he didn’t scare very often. He blamed that on the fact that he had somewhat grown up. When he was a child, everything short of his own shadow would scare him. His brothers had gotten a kick out of that back in the day.
Getting his breathing under control he sent a smile her way, “Hello, Aurora Vodanoi of Beauxbaton, Cossu House…wow that’s a mouthful. I’m Damien, from well… here…um…Gryffindor house. Oh yeah, definitely pop a squat.” He chuckled patting the spot next to him. His eyes widened as she offered him her cloak, “Thanks dude! I’ve been freezing my ass off.” He wrapped the cloak around himself, it was a little small, but it was better than nothing.
As he got himself situated he let his eyes wander over the girl in front of him for a few seconds, before picking up his bottle and taking a sip, having temporarily forgotten it. “So… what are you doing out here this late,” He paused thinking over what he had just asked,, “Better yet, what are you doing up this late.” It was close to 3 in the morning, and most people didn’t even think about leaving their bed this late unless they had a legitimate reason, and he really couldn’t think of a good reason. Remembering his manners, he offered her some of his drink, “Want some?”
Notes: It's all good, it's been about a year since i last did this too.

He flashed her a smile, bumping her shoulder lightly with his, “Sure you didn’t, you totally scared me on purpose.” Damien shrugged and sat the drink on the other side of him. “You’re a dancer? That’s really cool. That’s a really weird coincidence; I actually have a friend who’s a dancer at Beauxbatons. Her name happens to be Aurora too.” He paused, a new thought entering his head, “Wait a minute…Do you happen to have a pen pal? Tall, dark, ridiculously good looking?” He wiggled his eyebrows playfully at her. He could barely contain his excitement at the possibility of finally meeting his pen pal. They had bee communicating with each other for the last couple of years. Almost 3 years if he wasn’t mistaken. He had started pen paling(not sure if that’s an actual phrase… XD) at his oldest brother’s suggestion and who would’ve guessed how much he enjoyed it. Absently he wondered what the odds were of his pen pal finding him out here. He knew she would be arriving at Hogwarts this year for the Triwizard Tournament as she had told him that in one of their letters over the summer holiday. But he’d figured it would take a couple of days before he actually found her.
Damien wasn’t really sure what had brought him from this bed that night… err… morning… although he had been out there for hours an hadn’t really been to sleep either so… yeah… Lord knew that he hadn’t been getting enough sleep these past couple of days. It seemed like the universal was conspiring against him, and not allowing him to get enough sleep. Had he not been out here, getting wasted, he would be comfortably curled up in his bed sleeping like a baby that exact minute, so he could blame part of his insomnia on himself he guessed. He nodded as he listened to her as she explained, and laughed as she talked about the girls at her school, “Oh come on, all the girls at your school can’t be that bad. I mean, Beauxbaton certainly knows how to make some beautiful girls,” he said sending a wink her way. His eyes widened a bit in surprise as she said she would rather pull pranks, a smile sitting on his lips. “You like to play pranks? Also on a side note I’m like 90% sure that if anyone can party hard, it’s those girls at Beauxbaton. I mean no offense or anything, but they seem a bit whorey.”

Aurora laughed when he bumped her shoulder and smiled when he said Tall, dark, ridiculously good looking, She shook her head and said" Oh my Goodness As a Matter fact yes I do, Although sadly I know nothing Of his Looks though I am sure He Is as you said"Tall, dark, ridiculously good looking. All I know about Him is His Name Is Damien, and he is a Student here at Hogwarts, Wait A sec only way you would know that is if you...."Aurora trailed off as she realized he was her Pen Pal, she was meeting him finally after nearly 4 years, however she resisted the urge to hug him for the moment. She said" Wow, I can't believe it Finally We Meet, bout time I would say."Aurora scoffed softly when he said all the girls at your school can’t be that bad. I mean, Beauxbaton certainly knows how to make some beautiful girls, Aurora rolled her eyes and said" Trust me all they think about is their Perfection, Their Looks, actions, way they talk...all that, they think if they look good everything will be given to them and not have to work for anything." "But C'est La Vie, I Mean That is Life" Aurora Nodded and said" I love Pranks, long as no one gets hurt." Aurora Laughed and said" No at Beauxbatons We are not allowed to even Leave the palace unless Madame Maxine is with us and as far as Parties, Its forbidden unless like this year, When We are all invited to another school, other then that all we are allowed to do is study and look good. Far as I am conserened looking Good is ok but Having fun is Great. If you can't have fun Whats the Point of Doing Anything way I look at it things."Aurora Laughed Full heartedly when he said the other girls seemed a lil Whorey, she then said" oh trust me they are all Prudes you dont wanna try to ask one of them out that is unless Unless you want to be under spell Of Veela's. Thats why they look so beautiful its a Veela thing. I personally am Glad I am Not Veela. I prefer to have someone care for me for me not because they are enchanted by my looks. Aurora made a Blah sound to add to her point on her distain towards the other girls of Beauxbatons.
Then Unable to stand it anymore Aurora took out her wand and said"Sit sol oriri" *Let the sun rise* a bright light burst from her Wand a ball of Sunlight rose high above them and she was able to see him at last. Aurora smiled wide and said" Hey there Finally I can actually See who I am talking to. Aurora laughed and gently hugged him she felt it was the only thing she could do after talking to him for nearly 4 years, A Hug was in order for sure.

When she confirmed his suspicion that she was in fact his pen pal, the rest of her words fell on deaf ears, and he couldn’t help the smile that spread across his face. After years of writing to each other they were finally face to face. He had pictured this moment countless times, of course in those thoughts he didn’t have a mild buzz going, and it was slightly brighter outside. But seeing her in person was better than nothing, as the old saying goes beggars can’t be choosers. He found himself a little nervous and he wasn’t sure what to say at the moment. Was it okay to hug her? I mean technically they had never met before, despite the fact that he considered her one of his closest friends. She knew most of his deepest secrets, and while not witnessing first hand many of his bad experiences, he had shared most of what went down. He honestly had no idea of what to do, and he hated this feeling of uncertainty. He didn’t get nervous very often. Actually he didn’t get nervous at all, and the fact that he was feeling this way unnerved him quite a bit. He jumped a little as a bright light flew from the tip of her wand and a ball rose upward.
As she finally came into view he took in her appearance. She looked like an Aurora he supposed. He often played that game; deciding if someone's name "fit" their face or personality. If it didn't fit, he would run through other alternatives, trying to find a better name. That wouldn't be necessary for this person in particular, though. This Aurora just seemed to be an "Aurora." Her parents should be offered a congratulation. He raised an eyebrow as she gave him a gentle hug. That would definitely not do. They had been friends for years, and that’s not the kind of greeting you give one of your best friends. An idea popped into his eye along with a mischievous glint in his eye. Jumping up he brought her with him, and enveloped her in a huge hug, lifting her off the ground and spinning a bit. After a few seconds he set her down and with a laugh, “There now, that’s the kind of greeting this meeting deserved,” he said his smile even bigger.
It had been awhile since they had written each other. A solid two months to be exact and he had missed her like crazy. He flashed her a smile, the one he reserved just for when he spoke to her, “I did miss you terribly, Aurora, love.” The 2 months of silence had been the longest they had ever gone without talking since they started this whole pen pal thing. He placed his hand dramatically over his heart, “Let’s never go this long without talking to and/or seeing each other ever again, I fear my heart could never survive it.” While he said it in a joking tone of voice, he was quite serious; he would be crushed if he ever lost her. “Now that we got that out the way tell me what I’ve missed since we last spoke, how have you been?”
