BIOGRAPHY:
Narcissa is the youngest daughter of her two parents Cygnus Black III and Druella Rosier, and it could easily be said she was the favorite. Even as a child Narcissa was dainty and feminine, she never broke the rules and rarely got into trouble. Her features puzzled the family from an early age, her blonde hair and blue eyes contrasted with the dark features of the rest of the Black family. They gave her a bright beauty, and it won the hearts of many witches and wizards as a young child. The black children were taught they were superior to others very early on in their childhood and Narcissa was no different. She was not allowed to play with children who had a different blood status than her, which often resulted in many empty days in the Manor playing with her sisters. Narcissa was very close to her sisters, and she was devastated when her sister Andromeda married a muggleborn. Part of the pureblood ideal was the importance of family, which Narcissa held in high regard. It was difficult for her to break all contact with her sister, but she was also incapable of understanding Andromeda’s new point of view, which eventually led to her accepting the fact that Andromeda was no longer considered part of the family. This left a huge mark on Narcissa, who was told the importance of family since she was small. She had a bond with her sister, which felt wrong to just ignore. Narcissa put all of her attention on her sister Bellatrix to make up for it. They became closer than ever, and many were surprised that the two radically different sisters were inseparable.
As Narcissa got older, it became harder and harder to maintain that relationship with her sister. Narcissa got excited at the prospect of falling in love, getting married and running her own household. Bella seemed more interested in the Dark Arts, and relished ever opportunity to practice dueling. In an effort to keep up with her sister’s interests, Narcissa practiced dueling with her. She was not as skilled as her sister, who seemed to have a natural ability for the Dark Arts, but these practices did teach her how to hold her own in a battle. However, it wasn’t long before Narcissa’s beauty attracted a few suitors, one of which Lucius Malfoy. Lucius was an attractive man, the heir to his own Manor and most importantly, a pureblood. The two began courting and it did not take long for them to fall in love. They married directly after graduating from Hogwarts, and Narcissa moved away from the family she had grown up with. The first few years after their marriage, Narcissa spent running the Manor. Lucius had joined the Death Eaters by this time, and she was reluctant to have a baby during a war. Thus, their first and only son Draco, wasn’t born until 8 years after their marriage, when the victory of the Dark Lord seemed absolute. Unfortunately, just a month after the birth of their child, the Dark Lord fell.
The following months were terrifying for Narcissa, who was worried that her husband would be thrown in jail and she would be left alone with their newborn son. However, Lucius was able to convince the Ministry that he had been under the Imperius Curse and managed to get a cushy job in the ministry. Her beloved sister Bella did not have such luck, she was thrown into Azkaban. Narcissa turned all of her energies on her new family. She loved her son Draco with all her heart and doted on him. He was a spoiled little boy who always got his way, but to Narcissa, he was a prince who deserved everything he wanted. She hired tutors to educate him before he entered Hogwarts and played an important role in caring for him in his early life. She was devastated when his eleventh birthday arrived. Lucius wanted to send the boy to Durmstrang, so he could receive the best education in the Dark Arts. The thought of sending her son so far away from her was unthinkable, and she begged Lucius that he go to Hogwarts instead. Lucius agreed, he understood her need to have her family close, and Draco went to Hogwarts.
Narcissa’s life continued to be quiet. She sent her son gifts as often as he would allow her, and doted on him when he came home from school. Her sense of loyalty to her family in Malfoy Manor was further emphasized when her parents died. With all of the family that she grew up with gone, she grew even more attached to the one she had now. The most important thing to her was the ones she loved, she would do anything to protect them.
